1885

Początki zakładu i legenda założycielska

Według lokalnej opowieści początki zakładu sięgają 1885 r. Franciszek Foltin (syn), wadowicki drukarz i księgarz, miał wygrać
w karty pieniądze i milion cegieł,z których zbudował nowy budynek. Początkowo planował uruchomienie tam drukarni, jednak ostatecznie znalazła w nim siedzibę fabryka kołków do butów i rurek
do przewodów elektrycznych. Obok powstał tartak.

Fabryka i jej właściciele

Na początku XX w. zakład został przejęty przez Bernarda i Salomona Barberów. Przedsiębiorstwo znane było jako Pierwsza Krajowa Fabryka Wyrobów Drzewnych, której główną specjalnością były amerykańskie kołki do butów.
