To the mountains with your dog!
A mountain trail at dawn, an afternoon walk by the water, an evening rest in a room where no one has to be alone — this is the kind of holiday we had in mind when opening our pet hotel doors. Młyn Jacka Hotel & Spa, hidden in the heart of Beskid Mały in a restored historic mill in Jaroszowice, is a place designed for trips where no one stays home. Take your dog, leave the city pace behind, and together discover mountain trails loved by many dog owners across Małopolska.

What to do with your dog nearby?
Not all mountains welcome dogs with open arms — but Beskid Mały is an exception. Gentle slopes, trails without steep sections requiring carrying your dog, and shelters where dogs are as welcome as their owners. These are mountains worth visiting with a dog, not despite the dog.
Leskowiec from Ponikiew is one of our favorite options for a several-hour mountain hike in the Beskid Mały. The trailhead in Ponikiew is about 7 km from the hotel in Jaroszowice. The route starts in Ponikiew village and follows the blue trail through shaded forest paths and Przełęcz pod Gancarzem toward the PTTK Shelter Na Leskowcu. The shelter is reached after about 5.3 km and just over 2 hours of walking.
It's worth stopping here to rest, but also to visit nearby Groń Jana Pawła II, where there is a chapel, a monument to John Paul II, and the Way of the Cross. The place is closely linked to Karol Wojtyła, who often hiked these areas.
From the shelter, it's about a 20-minute walk to Leskowiec (918–922 m above sea level), one of the most climbed peaks of Beskid Mały. The summit offers wide views of the Beskids, and on clear days you can see Babia Góra, Gorce, Beskid Wyspowy, and even the Tatras. We suggest returning the same way to Ponikiew.
This is the nearest major attraction — just about 5–6 km from the hotel, a 10-minute driveLake Mucharskie (formerly Świnna Poręba Reservoir) is the region’s largest water reservoir, with an 11 km shoreline. In summer (May 1–late Sept, weekends 8:00 AM–8:00 PM), a free ~1 km walk along the dam crest offers views of the lake and Beskid Mały mountains — a flat, easy route ideal for a short afternoon dog walk or an evening sunset without a full mountain trip.

If you plan to walk around Wadowice with your dog, we recommend Galeria Cafe at 4 Kościelna Street, right in the city center. The venue is pet-friendly, so you can comfortably stop for coffee or a sweet treat with your four-legged friend after exploring the market and basilica.
